Parents choose one doctor who will see them for most regular and sick visits. We believe that it is natural and beneficial to develop an ongoing relationsip with one physician based on personal preference and style. Your doctor will know you and your child both as individuals and as a family and will be able better to serve as your personal medical adivisor.
In an emergency, or if your doctor is not available when a sudden illness occurs, another physician may see your child.
A rotational system of coverage on weekends and holidays insures that one of the doctors is always available to take care of emergencies and sick patients. At such times, the doctor-on-call sees all the newborn and hospital patients and examines the sick children in the office.
At the end of the weekend or holiday, the covering pediatrician always informs the other doctors of significant occurances relating to their patients. In this way, your own doctor will be aware of any important developments and will be in touch with you, if necessary. This is a well-controlled system of communication that insures that your medical care continues smoothly and without interruption.
If your child has an accident or a medical emergency and is taken to an emergency room, please notify your doctor immediately.
Depending upon the provisions of your insurance policy, you might also need to notify your carrier of the visit. Please contact your Insurance Company for more information.
Park Avenue Pediatrics participates in a variety of plans, however, our contract with these plans changes periodically. Please call to confirm that we accept your insurance before changing plans. Unfortunately, insurance company websites are not a reliable source of information: their list of participating providers, among other matters, can be quite out of date.
Park Avenue Pediatrics makes every effort to be accurate, knowledgable and responsive to the benefits and restrictions imposed by insurance companies. However, ultimately it is the insured's responsibility to know the provisions and limitations of his or her coverage.
Some plans require each patient to choose a Primary Care Physician. Please contact your insurance carrier to verify that one of our physicans has been designated as your child's PCP.
